#488      K & O Steam and Gas Engine Association Meeting Minutes

June 6, 2022                                                                                                  

The 488th K & O Steam and Gas Engine Association meeting was called to order by President, Curtis Rink with 30 members present. The Pledge of Allegiance was cited by all present.

The minutes were read by Secretary, Connie Curran. A motion was made to accept the minutes as read by Loma Berndsen, seconded by Dennis Metz, passed.

The Treasurer’s report was read by Treasurer, Irvin Parsons. A motion was made to accept the report as read by Floyd Moore, seconded by Maurice Roberts, passed.

Member, Jerry Wilson, passed away.  Several K & O members attended the funeral. Jerry was very active in the K & O club. We will have big shoes to fill. Secretary, Connie Curran took over the typing of the finance report and the submitting membership to EDGE-TA.

We have a new member, Grant Hervy, grandson of Warren Hahn.

The show program needs to be passed around and approved.  Are there any corrections that need to be made? It was stated that yes, there are some that need made. Krystal Kelly will make the needed corrections.  A motion to accept the layout of the program was made by Carrol Underwood, seconded by Irvin Parsons, passed.

Discussion was held on if we would continue to purchase and distribute turkeys at Thanksgiving time. It was decided to continue to purchase 25 turkeys and distribute where they are needed.

Is anyone interested in being chairperson of the Tractor Rodeo? No takers.

Wheat binding will be held at Irvin Parsons. Irvin stated that he will furnish the tractor that is needed. We need about 2 bundle wagons full of wheat bundles. (we need some for wheat festival, kids day, and the show).  Wheat binding will be held on Friday, June 17th, weather permitting. (go to road 231 east of Burden and the go north 3 ¼ miles to the field.

The Wellington Wheat Festival will be held in Wellington KS on July 8 & 9, 2022. The parade will be held on Friday evening. Threshing and tractor show will be held on Saturday. If the steam engine doesn’t make it to Wellington to go with the threshing machine, Floyd Moore has a tractor that can be used.

On Saturday, June 25th, will be the Estate sale of Bob Sherrard. Lots of tractors and house hold stuff will be sold.

An open invitation was given by Loma Berndsen to anyone that would like to attend the meeting of _______________________ on Sunday, June 26th at 1pm

The 50/50 drawing was held.  Bryson Looney won $39.

A motion was made to adjourn the meeting by Loma Berndsen, seconded by Dorothy Wolfe, passed.
